Case study
Roofduct: a custom website with an online store in 18 languages and a messaging system that translates itself
Roofduct B.V., based in Meteren, the Netherlands, makes a patented renovation roof penetration for flat roofs: a three-part sliding system that lets roofers and installers place or replace a roof penetration without disconnecting any pipes. For the international launch, we built the complete website on roofduct.com in 12 days: static pages, an online store with eight product variants and a wholesale form, a messaging system where Roofduct reads and answers questions from every country in Dutch, and 18 languages, including installation, three domains, and launch. Intake on July 20, 2026, live on August 1, 2026. Built in Next.js, with Claude handling the translation of pages and messages.

Why one product for all of Europe calls for a multilingual website
Roofduct sells one product to an international market: roofers, installers, and wholesalers across Europe. So the website had to be readable in many languages, take orders from both consumers and wholesalers, and handle questions from all those countries without a multilingual team behind it.
On top of that came the founder's requirement: simple and easy to use. One person manages the site, the orders, and the messages. Anything complicated just doesn't get done.

How the multilingual website and online store for Roofduct were built
In the intake meeting, we set the scope: three to four static pages, an online store where customers place their own orders, a secure admin area for messages, automatic translation, and multilingual support across three domains. Deliberately without online payment: Roofduct wants to handle every order itself, with a custom invoice and shipping.
Then we built the site in Next.js, with Claude as the translation engine: the 18 language versions of the pages, incoming messages into Dutch, and replies back into the sender's language. Roofduct supplied the copy, product renderings, and order form; we handled the design, build, installation, the two additional domains, and the launch.

What building the Roofduct website covered
- 01Scope and intake: pages, online store, messaging system, languages, and domains defined in a single meeting.
- 02Website in Next.js: home, how it works, about us, FAQ, contact, and shipping information.
- 03Online store with eight variants of the Roofduct set (aluminum or PVC, square or round, 100 or 125 mm) where customers place an order that Roofduct processes by hand, plus a wholesale form for B2B orders.
- 04Messaging system with a secure admin area: incoming questions automatically translated into Dutch, replies automatically translated back into the customer's language.
- 0518 languages with a language switcher on every page, from Dutch and English to Bulgarian and Croatian, translated with Claude.
- 06Three domains: roofduct.com as the main domain and two domains that redirect to it.
- 07Installation, hosting setup, and launch.
The result: one site that takes orders and questions in 18 languages
The website has been live on roofduct.com since August 1, 2026, taking orders, wholesale requests, and customer questions from all over Europe, managed by one person.
- 18
- languages live, with a language switcher on every page (count as of September 2026)
- 8
- product variants in the online store, ready to order
- 1
- administrator who reads and answers every message in Dutch, in any language
- 12 days
- from intake (July 20, 2026) to launch (August 1, 2026)
Which product companies this applies to
Roofduct is an example of a product company in construction and building services that serves an international market with a single website. The same approach fits any manufacturer, wholesaler, or production company that sells one or a few products in several countries and wants one person to manage it all: a multilingual site, an online store with a B2C and a B2B route, and a messaging system that removes the language barrier. Besides Roofduct, we built the online store for Babyloop and the booking application for De Silent Disco the same way.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about building a multilingual website
How much does it cost to build a multilingual website with an online store?+
It depends on the number of pages, the number of languages, the store functionality, and whether a messaging system is included. For Roofduct, we built the website, online store, messaging system, and 18 languages in a single project at a fixed price. Tell us what you sell and in which countries, and we'll give you a fixed price.
How does automatic translation of customer questions work?+
A customer sends a message in their own language through the site. The system translates it into Dutch and shows it in the admin area. The reply is automatically translated back into the customer's language. At Roofduct, Claude handles the translation, which lets one person manage questions from 18 language regions.
Can one online store serve both consumers and wholesalers?+
Yes. At Roofduct, consumers place an order in the online store and wholesalers request an order through a separate form. Roofduct handles both itself, so VAT, pricing, and shipping are right for each type of customer.
